Can my 3 1/2 month old be eating too frequently?

He usually eats about 5-6oz every 2-2 1/2 hours during the day. He'll sleep from 11pm-5am without waking up, however. I know there is no rule about how much/frequently babies should eat, but all of the guidelines I've looked at said he should be able to go 4-5 hours in between feedings at this point. My mom was watching him for a few hours last weekend and decided she was going to feed him rice cereal (and before you jump on me, I KNOW he's not supposed to have it yet - my mom just thinks she knows best). He obviously wasn't ready for it, because he just spit it right back out. I'm not sure how much he weighs, since we haven't been to the doctor since his 2 month check-up. Everyone says he is a big boy. He's not very chubby, just healthy and tall. He doesn't spit up a lot or anything, so I guess I just want some reurance that it's normal :) Thanks!

What you describe actually sounds like textbook thyroid problems. Diabetes would definately be in the differential diagnosis list, but thyroid problems would be at the top of the list. I would definately get it worked up. Both can be easily identified through simple blood tests.

I have no idea. I have a similar problem, I was molested when I was a kid though, so I'm sure that is part of my problem. I always tense up and my boyfriend can't really me fully, in fact it usually hurts and we have to stop. Menopause Question?

My mother is forty-eight and has recently been dry heaving and vommiting for about two weeks. Could that be a symptom of menopause as well? She had a heavy load of bleeding, and was anemic until she had some blood transfusion at the hospital. I left my mini lathe running for 30 minutes (whoops), could this have damaged it?

I recently left my mini lathe running accidentally for about 30 minutes. When I got back it was extremely hot, but still operates fine. I am a woodworker and know nothing about the internal workings of electric motors, bearings, etc. The lathe is nearly brand new. Could this have damaged my lathe, or decreased its life expectancy? I think you should stay with your family because it sounds like they need you. I know you’re finishing high school and you want to move away and “meet new people and have a good time.” Trust me when I say you have plenty of time for that, your family always comes first. For now you should go to community college (where you can always meet new people) for the first semester or two and take your core courses such as English, Math, social science etc. That way when your mom is done with her chemotherapy and things get better you can transfer to the school of your choice, if that‘s still what you want to do. You have been waiting to go away for college for a long time but everything happens for a reason. Stay with your family, I’m sure your mom will be thankful.

She should be quite safe to go to Disneyland about a week after the stitches are removed- but the question really should go to her doctor for the recommendation. You wouldn't want to go while she still has stitches, no. As far as the blood when she goes to the bathroom- that sounds like a small hemorrhoid or a tear. You really do need to let your parents know about that. It could just be from constipation after the surgery, and her straining to go has caused a small tear, which would heal on it's own if matters get some relief. Your parents will know best how to help with that. It's not dangerous, as in causing death or serious illness- but it is something that needs to be taken care of before it becomes a big problem. Just tell your parents. It's embaring, but nobody dies of embarment. And your parents already know where all the birthmarks and freckles are, so they aren't likely to curl up and croak from hearing about this.
