Can anybody tell me WHY we have immigration laws?

I agree with you 100%. It is really upsetting that the US Government does not enforce the law of the land (Constitution), and allows undoented foreigners free entrance. I was once an European immigrant to the States, and my family and I had to wait for 4 and a half years until a quota was not filled. Then 5 more years for citizenship ~~ all legal. I have repaid by working for the government for 31 years, but being a conservative and having Mr. Jefferson's belief that a small government is best, I got so disgusted that I left. Went to Taiwan, and now the Philippines where I intend to stay.
