Would my punishment towards my wife be considered unusual?

As a punishment for laying out the wrong style of breeches, I am punishing my wife by forbidding her to use the words 'sorry' and 'apologise' (American "apologize") which is something she is required to say at least fifteen times on any given day. Thus, when I demand an apology for any slack performance of duties, she is unable to use the word and thus receives a thrashing. Is this an acceptable punishment I have created?
