I would like to start a charity any ideas?

I would like to start a charity for a small village in a poor country that needs basic necessities like shoes, soccer , toothbrushes, etc. Any ideas what kind of fundraisers I can do to collect these sort of things or to get donations? What type of charitable events can I hold?
